No matter how many times I do this, there is always an acute sense of excitement and anticipation for me after posting the theme each week. While I try not to have any pre-conceived ideas of what I would like to see, there is always the moment when you say 'ahh i hoped somebody would post a pic of this' or 'wow that is breath taking-ly gorgeous!' when I start viewing the pictures.

The process of choosing each week is very subjective I know, this week these are my choices, and while we admins do have a general discussion, the final choice is left to the admin hosting that week. I'm not sure there is a simpler way to make the choices, or a way to make it more fair, but I like to believe we have a good eye for a great picture, and that each week we do try to be as fair and as objective as we can. Not foolproof I'm sure..but the best we can do.

After 5 weeks of competition, I felt it necessary to be a bit more stringent about the size and the content of pictures chosen, some of you have had 'multiply issues' when posting pictures and I'm so sorry about that, many others have taken the time to take direction and learn new techniques about posting and sizing,  the help and assistance from other members has been phenomenal!! Thank you so much to Harriet, Mitch and Mouse for posting links and  'How to's' on your own personal pages, they are both step by easy step and well worth looking at if you are struggling with posting a decent sized picture.

Its been a FABULOUS 6 weeks, we truly have had such fun with this, the camaraderie and level of participation has been amazing, and I was right in thinking that after 5 weeks of competition you would ready for a subject as abstract as SOUND..you did great! Thank you!

  32. I appreciate your kindness but I simply don't feel right about it. The show must go on and I am, as always, good to go with that. Wishing you a peaceful evening! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Maggie it is a great picture, good clarity and a fabulous subject choice. If I didnt feel it worthy of an HM, my apology would have been enough.

  36. OMG you want me to choose just one! JUST one! ONLY ONE! Each week it gets harder. You know I think you are an amaing team _ I race home on a Saturday to see who is top 10 and HM I love to torcher myself choosing my favourite then sit back to see how the drama unfolds. How you maintain the energy is staggering...................

  37. i know i could never be a judge and choose just ten pictures for the top ten, and then only ten more for HM from all of the entries presented each week. i so enjoy looking at everyones entries...their perceptions of what the contest theme is for them. and we all perceive things differently, and that is what makes this fun. and i try to always look at it as fun and not the be all, end of of my picture taking. what one person may think of as not being worthy to be top ten or HM, someone else may like. and what counts for me is that I like it. i don't ever edit in any way...what i see, i share so it looks as natural as it is suppose to be. and thats what i love about alot of fellow photogs here.

This week as always, there were alot of entries i thought would be top ten or Hm and weren't, and the other way around. I am grateful for this forum to show what my eye sees daily, .....the time each host takes to pick a theme, do all of this blog work, pick 20 pictures out of how many every week, and then honor the winner....knowing some my not agree. And my heart goes out to those who were missed this week....

we all have so much to offer each other....and we ALL are winners.... hugs....tessie

  41. I got home in time to vote and as I was looking at the top ten Multiply decided it was time for maintenance but wasn't off line too long. It was hard to decide which wonderful photo I thought best represented the theme sound. It was an honor to be among the honorable mentions.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I just got home in time to vote too, this was the hardest week trying to choose !! But finally I did, good luck to everyone !!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Apologize for not making it to everyone's entry this week. Too many activities going on and out of town for them all. Thanks everyone for the comments on my Sound Foundation photo. The trainer really like the photo too.

  44. Last night I was on and as soon as it came up I made my vote but really when it comes down to it I really think that all are winners within there own manner. I never joined this room to compete or win but I certainly enjoy the pictures that are rendered. But that all said, it's a great group and an enjoyable one with or without the competitions. You see this pictures from such different places Heather it amazes me to this very day. (Jack be silent :) ). I find that this is literally like a National Geographic - and within the pictures it all amazes me to this very day Heather.

  45. congrats to all the top ten and the HMs.

This was my first round of contest challenges here and I had a great time. It, unfortunately fell at my busiest time of year and I couldn't dedicate much time to shooting something appropriate and being new to photography, my files are as inclusive as they should be. Every theme, save one was shot either at or on my way to work. The other was shot here at home. This in itself proved to be a great exercise for me as it helped develope and eye for seeing something interesting in daily life (at least I hope I managed to be at least interesting)

Thanks to all the admins who dedicated so much time to making this happen. Great jobs.
