..and back again

Near Graviota Beach off the 101, taken with my cybershot, and as with all my pictures, untouched and unenhanced

Some spectacular shots again this week..absolutely wonderful. The different takes on the theme were such fun. Thank you all for your support and kind words, your  advice and suggestions are wonderful, your commitment to the project  unbelivably heartwarming. Remember the blog is up so feel free to peruse through pictures all week...and its never too late to post an entry!

As usual a few things crop up each week, but the one thing which is frustrating for many is the sizing of pics here on Multiply. Remembering also that too big is as difficult to view as is the pic which is too small....

I think we need someone with 'puter skills to walk us through a simple process of how to put a decent sized picture up each week. The way I do it is:  to save my pic to Flickr and then right click and copy the url from the properties of that picture. I then post my pic.. by finding my pic through THE WEB option on Multiply, and then pasting my url into the window which pops up. It ensures a really good size pic I think. Im sure others may have some better ideas perhaps and can walk us through the whole process. Unfortunately many tend to skip through the viewing of some really great pictures just because they're too small to see properly.

I hope the next week isnt too frenetic for you all, and the shopping is well under control. Have a happy safe holiday season everyone..see you Wednesday!

  2. I agree miss foto! ... Ive caught myself several times uploading a full size image and regretting it. I plan to make a folder in my "pictures" file especialy for re-sized images to be used on my blog. Im hoping it helps. Yours is a good idea also. My only personal issue with it is that I have only the free account on flicker and it is so full already that it will erase previously used images from my other blogs on other sites....... Woooooe is me . :(

I love your picture youve posted in this blog. Im so attracted to those warm colors. Its very beautiful!

  3. I got around the free flickr issue by tagging all my photos with a word only I would use. it means I can look for the tag and see all my photos regardless of the limits of the free site. I realized after I posted my pic this week I had posted it full size...oops in the future i will shrink then post!

  4. I use Picasa2, select the 800 pixel size, copy the url, paste it in my blog and use HTML tags to center the photo. I tried to post a pic from Photobucket this week but the program refused to co-operate and I ended up with a picture that more than filled the screen. So, after three tries, I deleted the entry in frustration.

  9. I use photobucket too. I have an album there just for blog images, that way they don't get moved and the link doesn't break.

I tend to resize my images (to 500 x 375) before posting them to photobucket. It's then just a case of copy and pasting the link to my blog.
The same procedure will work for Flickr.

Contributers who want to stay exclusively with Multiply could create a Multiply Photo Album and post their blog images there at an appropriate size. When composing the blog, use the insert image button, you will be asked where to upload the image from. One of the choices is a multiply album - use your blog album to post image to blog.
Viewers see a preview of your smaller multiply image within the blog but just need to click it to get the full size picture.

When composing your blog, if you just upload an image straight from your computer it will always be the standard small size.

    Hope this helps someone.

  11. Hi!! I love the picture and the theme. Unfortunately I don't have too many pictures that fit these catagories and since I can't take them offline, I'm out of luck. But I love looking. This one is beautiful and so fitting! Sorry I've not participated lately.

I also want to tell you that we are doing a Christmas STroll that started today and will last til next SAturday. It's a HOliday blogging event that will take place on most holidays, i.e. Valentines, St. Patrick's Day, et.al. Anyone can participate and just needs to do a page for the season and mention The Christmas STroll and then post on my page for everyone to know who's participating. I'm hoping more and more participate now and in the future...it should be fun and delightful for the season. We're slowly getting going and you can look on my comment section or Debbe's and see who is participating!! Christmas cheer to you!!

  15. Yet another awesome photo! The background colours are magnificent!
I post my photos through Flikr too but I open another browser & just drag the photo to the blog. I find it much easier. And I put my photos to 800 pixel, which is suitable for on screen viewing. Well, at least that's what Flikr says! LOL!! Let me know if mine is too small! And I totally agree with you about photos that are too big. Have mercy on me, I'm using the ancient dial-up connection! LOL!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

  16. Beautiful photo! Just edited this entry after realizing the code was not appearing here, but rather it was looking for a picture to display -- sorry. Here is the code to insert photos into your blog if you have uploaded your photos to another website: (Take out the asterisks, I had to put them there in order to make the code appear) <*img src="http://www.you website.com/whateverdirectory/phototitle.jpg" alt="photoname" border="0" height="459" width="612" alt="Image" */>

I upload mine to my own website because it's easier for me. Obviously you replace your own url and photo title in there. You can change the width and height too. Oh, and you have to check the "Edit Html" box before you insert this if you want it to work.

I don't use Flicker, but others have told me that you just upload a photo there, click on it, click on All Sizes, and the Click on the size you want. then you copy and paste the code into your blog entry, same as above.

  17. Beautiful photo! Thanks once again for hosting this each week, it's a lot of fun, especially meeting so many different people.

I use photobucket - I upload my picture, copy the 'html' code, go to post a blog on multiply, click on 'html' and paste in the code, and then click off 'html and add the text.

  18. As do I. It is a wonderful feature and works MUCH better (and faster) than loading it from my own computer.

  23. copy and paste doesnt work with all pics though, ethansdad..I cant copy and paste from flickr at all..it sometimes works with photobucket and snapfish...i wish multiply had a larger format for showing pics to be honest.

  25. What might be an idea is I can show how to write the HTML string that will size down your photo, and then if you click on it, it would pop open a new window with the full size picture.

With a few simple pieces of math, it's very easy to resize the image using the HMTL code to do so when it's posted.

Me, I just downsize the image in Microsoft Paint before I ever send it over to PhotoBucket.

For example, the picture I sent over to Photobucket tonight for my PPF image started out 1200x1600 pixels. I pasted it into PAINT and reduced it by 70% making it now 360x480 a good usable size in multiply. The difference in file size is the same reduction. So a 1 meg file would now be 300K. There are definate advantages to smaller images.

  26. Im happy with the size my pics are...many others are posting small pics though and just wondered if there was an easy way to post up decent size ones. Im trying to enocurage folks to post the pic on their blog big enough..so we dont have to hunt for it, or click on it to make it bigger...thanks for your help Mick

  28. The photo above is amazing. I love the play of colors and the black lines of the trees almost creating a stained glass look.

I just upload my photos directly from my computer and haven't had any problems, but all of my photos are scanned into photoshop and saved from there, so maybe my settings there are what I need for here. I guess if I ever get a digital camera I'll get to experience what you all are talking about.
